PROJECT OVERVIEW
A complete interior restoration of a mid-year C2 Corvette Stingray coupe in the iconic Nassau Blue leather. The owner acquired the car with a badly deteriorated interior and wanted it returned to factory-correct condition using the best available materials. The car was intended for regular driving, not static display.
THE CHALLENGE
Mid-year Corvette interiors have unique challenges — the seat shape is complex with compound curves, the door panels are large single pieces that require precise fitment to the fiberglass body, and the carpet must conform to the transmission tunnel and footwell contours. Color matching Nassau Blue across leather, vinyl, and carpet requires careful material coordination.
OUR APPROACH
We used correct-specification leather sourced from a Corvette restoration supplier. Seat foam was rebuilt with new butyrate backing and high-density foam shaped to the original seat frame contours. Door panels were recovered with correct grain vinyl and chrome trim strips. Carpet was heat-formed to fit the fiberglass body precisely.
THE RESULT
The car looks like it just rolled off the St. Louis assembly line in 1965. The owner drives it regularly and reports that the seat comfort is a significant improvement over the worn-out original foam. The interior has received consistent praise at local car shows.
